Marisol Thayre
Marisol Thayre is a secondary English teacher, author, and instructional coach based in San Diego, California, where she teaches high school English and college composition. She is a National Board–certified teacher and has taught composition at both university and community college levels, working with preservice and experienced teachers to develop purposeful, collaborative, and data-driven classrooms. Her professional interests include secondary literacy strategies, assessment, differentiation, collaboration, and how students learn to use technology in research-based argumentative writing. Her current research focuses on integrating social-emotional learning into content-area instruction, and she completed a PhD in Education (joint program with San Diego State University) with a dissertation titled Humanizing English Language Arts Content Using a Social-Emotional Learning Approach in 2023.
Thayre is a coauthor of several Corwin Literacy titles, including Teaching Literacy in the Visible Learning Classroom, Grades 6–12, Teaching Writing From Content Classroom to Career, Grades 6–12, and Text-Dependent Questions for both Grades 6–12 and Grades K–5.
