Mark R. Warren

Mark R. Warren is a sociologist and professor of public policy and public affairs at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He is the founder and co-chair of the Urban Research-Based Action Network, and his work focuses on community organizing, educational equity, youth leadership, and efforts to build cross-racial and cross-class democratic movements.

Warren is the author of Dry Bones Rattling: Community Building to Revitalize American Democracy, Fire in the Heart: How White Activists Embrace Racial Justice, A Match on Dry Grass: Community Organizing as a Catalyst for School Reform (with Karen L. Mapp), and Willful Defiance: The Movement to Dismantle the School-to-Prison Pipeline. He co-authored Lift Us Up, Don’t Push Us Out!: Voices from the Front Lines of the Educational Justice Movement with David Goodman.
