Marlene Correia

Marlene Correia is a literacy educator and Assistant Professor of Literacy Education at Bridgewater State University. She has approximately 30 years of experience in education, working as a K–8 classroom teacher, district administrator, and teacher educator. Correia is a past president and current Executive Board member of the Massachusetts Reading Association.

She is co-author, with Melissa Stewart, of 5 Kinds of Nonfiction: Enriching Reading and Writing Instruction with Children’s Books, a professional resource that introduces a classroom-focused classification system for children’s nonfiction and offers strategies to support reading and writing instruction.
