Marlene Moyer

Marlene Moyer, MAT, is a seventh-grade English teacher at South Lake Tahoe Middle School in South Lake Tahoe, California. She has more than twenty years of teaching experience in Nevada and California and currently serves as the English department curriculum leader and mentor teacher.

Moyer is coauthor of Tools Not Rules®: Developing Self-Regulation for Improved Student Behavior in Grades K–8, a classroom management approach that helps students monitor, understand, and improve their own behavior through self-regulation tools rather than punitive rules. Since 2013, she has co-designed and co-presented numerous conferences and workshops on classroom management strategies that form the basis of the Tools Not Rules framework.
