Marta Malo

Marta Malo (Madrid, 1975) is a Spanish translator, feminist researcher, and independent activist whose work focuses on power, gender, borders, and critical pedagogy. Since the late 1990s she has combined professional translation and interpreting (from English, Italian, and Dutch) with militant research and popular education projects in grassroots, feminist, educational, and health-related contexts. She has translated into Spanish influential feminist theorists including bell hooks, Judith Butler, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Mariarosa Dalla Costa, Nancy Fraser, Silvia Federici, and Isabell Lorey, among others. Malo is the Spanish translator of bell hooks’s Enseñar a transgredir: La educación como práctica de la libertad (Teaching to Transgress), published by Capitán Swing.

Malo has played a central role in developing militant research (“investigación militante”) in Spain, coordinating the collective volume Nociones Comunes.
