Mary Ann Cappiello

Mary Ann Cappiello is a Professor of Language and Literacy in the Graduate School of Education at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she teaches courses in children’s and young adult literature and literacy methods, including a specialized course in nonfiction for children and young adults. Prior to her work in higher education, she taught English language arts and humanities at the middle and high school levels in New York and New Hampshire and served as a curriculum facilitator for English language arts and social studies.

Cappiello is the coauthor of _Text Sets in Action: Pathways Through Content Area Literacy_ (Stenhouse, 2021), written with Erika Thulin Dawes, which examines how multimodal, multigenre text sets can deepen content-area literacy and critical thinking. She is also coauthor of _Reading with Purpose: Selecting and Using Children’s Literature for Inquiry and Engagement_ (Teachers College Press, 2023), with Erika Thulin Dawes, Katie Egan Cunningham, and Grace Enriquez.
