Melissa Loftus
Melissa Loftus is a National Board-Certified educator, curriculum developer, and co-author of The Literacy 50–A Q&A Handbook for Teachers: Real-World Answers to Questions About Reading That Keep You Up at Night, part of Scholastic’s Science of Reading in Practice series. She co-hosts the Melissa & Lori Love Literacy podcast, where she and her co-host interview literacy experts and translate research on topics such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension into practical guidance for teachers.
Loftus previously taught middle and high school English language arts for nearly 15 years in New Orleans and Baltimore and has also served as a district coach. She holds a BA in education and English from Bucknell University and an MEd with reading specialist certification from Johns Hopkins University. She currently works as a curriculum developer with Great Minds and lives in Pennsylvania.
