Melissa Stewart is an award-winning author of more than 200 science books for children. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Union College and a master’s degree in science journalism from New York University, and she worked as a children’s book editor for nine years before becoming a full-time writer in 2000.
Her books include 5 Kinds of Nonfiction: Enriching Reading and Writing Instruction with Children’s Books, which she co-wrote, as well as titles such as Feathers: Not Just for Flying, Can an Aardvark Bark?, No Monkeys, No Chocolate, and Pipsqueaks, Slowpokes and Stinkers: Celebrating Animal Underdogs.
