Melody M. Croft is a literacy educator and author who co‑wrote Preventing Misguided Reading: New Strategies for Guided Reading Teachers and Preventing Misguided Reading: Next Generation Guided Reading Strategies with Jan Miller Burkins. She worked in public education for 30 years, serving as a classroom teacher in grades 1–5, a resource teacher in grades K–5, and a Reading Recovery teacher for nine years.
Croft’s work focuses on guided reading and small‑group literacy instruction, and her co‑authored book Preventing Misguided Reading has been recognized by the International Reading Association, including being named an IRA Book of the Month. In addition to her literacy work, she is also described as an artist and reading education specialist based in Athens, Georgia.
