Meredith Liben

Meredith Liben is a literacy consultant, reading specialist, and author who has spent more than 30 years working on reading instruction, curriculum design, and literacy reform. She co-authored Know Better, Do Better: Teaching the Foundations So Every Child Can Read and Know Better, Do Better: Comprehension: Fueling the Reading Brain With Knowledge, Vocabulary, and Rich Language with David Liben. Her work has included leading literacy initiatives for Student Achievement Partners and contributing to Common Core ELA text complexity research and standards work.

Liben has taught in a wide range of settings, including kindergarten through graduate school, and has also taught at Vermont Technical College and the Community College of Vermont. She holds a B.A. in Classics and Government from Oberlin College and a master’s degree in the Teaching of English with a concentration in Rhetoric from the City University of New York.
