Michael Comer

Michael Comer is a STEM education specialist and coauthor of STEM Lesson Guideposts: Creating STEM Lessons for Your Curriculum, written with Jo Anne Vasquez and Joel Villegas, which provides a practical framework for designing integrated STEM units for K–12 classrooms. He has coauthored additional STEM-focused resources, including STEM Lesson Essentials, Grades 3–8: Integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and Integrating STEM Teaching and Learning into the K–2 Classroom, both developed with Jo Anne Vasquez and other collaborators to support teachers in implementing hands-on, inquiry-based STEM learning.

Comer’s background includes work as a middle school science teacher in New York and Rhode Island, followed by roles supporting educators through hands-on training and professional development in science and STEM instruction. He has contributed to international STEM education efforts, including work with the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia on improving science instruction, and coauthored Developing Visual Literacy in Science K–8 (NSTA Press), reflecting his ongoing focus on helping teachers design rigorous, real-world STEM learning experiences.
