Michael Degen

Michael E. Degen is an educator who has taught for approximately twenty years at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas, Texas. In his teaching, he focuses on helping students develop critical thinking skills through the study of literature.

He is the author of Prospero’s Magic: Active Learning Strategies for the Teaching of Literature (also listed as Prospero’s Magic: Awaken Students’ Critical Thinking Skills), a work that presents classroom strategies designed to engage students actively with literary texts and to foster analytical and interpretive skills.
