Michael Faggella-Luby
Michael Faggella-Luby, PhD, is a professor of special education and core faculty member of the Alice Neeley Special Education Research and Service (ANSERS) Institute at Texas Christian University (TCU). He holds a BA in English from the College of the Holy Cross, an MEd in Secondary Education from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD in Special Education with a minor in Reading from the University of Kansas. His scholarly work focuses on learning disabilities, literacy and reading education, instructional design, and systems that improve outcomes for students with disabilities in secondary and postsecondary settings.
Faggella-Luby is past president of the Division for Learning Disabilities (DLD) of the Council for Exceptional Children and serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Learning Disabilities. He has authored numerous scholarly publications and has received national recognition for his research on embedding cognitive learning strategies into subject-area courses to improve reading comprehension for diverse learners. In addition to coauthoring Data Rules: Elevating Teaching with Objective Reflection, he has contributed to other works in special and inclusive education and previously served as a teacher and high school administrator before entering higher education.
