Before becoming superintendent, Matsuda spent more than two decades in AUHSD as a classroom teacher and instructional leader, including teaching at Orangeview Junior High School—where he was twice named Teacher of the Year—and at Oxford Academy, the district’s college-preparatory school. He holds a B.A. in English from UCLA, a Master of Public Administration from USC, a teaching credential from Chapman University, and an administrative credential from California State University, Fullerton. Matsuda has received multiple honors for his work, including Education Week
