Michele Haiken
Michele L. Haiken, Ed.D., is a veteran middle school English teacher in Westchester County, New York, with more than 25 years of classroom experience. She also serves as an adjunct professor of literacy at Manhattanville College, where she teaches courses on adolescent literacy. Haiken earned a B.A. in English Education and Women’s Studies from Syracuse University and later completed both her Ed.M. and Ed.D. in English Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Haiken is the author of New Realms for Writing: Inspire Student Expression with Digital Age Formats, first published by ISTE in 2019, with a forthcoming second edition co-published by NCTE and ISTE. She has written or co-written several other professional books, including Personalized Reading: Digital Strategies and Tools to Support All Learners (ISTE, 2018; second edition co-published by NCTE and ISTE in 2024), Creative SEL: Using Hands-On Projects to Boost Social Emotional Learning (ISTE, 2023), and she is editor of Gamify Literacy: Boost Comprehension, Collaboration, and Learning.
