Mike Flynn is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Flynn Education and was formerly the Director of Mathematics Leadership Programs at Mount Holyoke College, where he led the Master of Arts in Mathematics Teaching program. He taught second grade for 14 years at William E. Norris Elementary School in Southampton, Massachusetts, and earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Westfield State College, an M.A.Ed. from Lesley University, and an Ed.D. from Walden University.
He is the author of _Beyond Answers: Exploring Mathematical Practices with Young Children_, a book for elementary educators focused on the Standards for Mathematical Practice. Flynn was named Massachusetts Teacher of the Year in 2008 and received the National Education Association Foundation Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching.
