Ming Lee Newcomb
Ming Lee Newcomb is a coauthor of Motivating and Inspiring Students: Strategies to Awaken the Learner, written with Robert J. Marzano, Darrell Scott, and Tina H. Boogren. In this work, she contributes to a six-level hierarchy of student needs and classroom strategies designed to help K–12 teachers motivate and engage learners. She also coauthored Teaching Reasoning: Activities and Games for the Classroom, another research-based resource focused on best practices for K–12 teachers.
Newcomb has worked as a production editor at Marzano Research in Denver, Colorado, where she has been involved in developing professional learning materials for educators. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a concentration in fiction writing, from Colorado College. Her background includes mentoring high school students, tutoring elementary and postsecondary students, publishing education policy briefs with the National Conference of State Legislatures, and writing and editing for outlets such as Leviathan Magazine and The Catalyst Newspaper.
