Minh Lê

Minh Lê is a Vietnamese American children’s author and early childhood policy expert, best known for the picture book Drawn Together, illustrated by Dan Santat, which won the 2019 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature. He has written several other acclaimed picture books, including Let Me Finish! (an NPR Best Book of 2016), Lift (an Eisner Award nominee and Washington Post Best Book of the Year), The Blur, The Perfect Seat, and Real to Me, as well as the middle-grade graphic novels Green Lantern: Legacy and Green Lantern: Alliance for DC Comics.

Lê holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from Dartmouth College and a master’s degree in education policy from Harvard University, and works in the field of national early childhood policy, consulting at multiple levels of government. A first-generation Vietnamese American who was born and raised in Connecticut, he writes about children’s literature at his blog Bottom Shelf Books and has contributed to publications including The New York Times, The Horn Book, and HuffPost; he also serves on the board of We Need Diverse Books and on the faculty of Hamline University’s MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults.
