Miriam Plotinsky

Miriam Plotinsky is an instructional specialist with Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland and an education author whose work focuses on student-centered teaching and practical strategies for classroom success. She has taught and led for more than 20 years in roles including English teacher, staff developer, and department chair, and is a National Board–certified teacher with additional certification in education administration and supervision. Plotinsky holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and teaching from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in education policy analysis/education leadership from The George Washington University.

She is the author of several professional books for educators, including Small but Mighty: How Everyday Habits Add Up to More Manageable and Confident Teaching, and Not Just Talk: Increasing Student Participation Through Speaking, Listening, and Writing, Grades 3–12. Her other titles include Teach More, Hover Less: How to Stop Micromanaging Your Secondary Classroom, Lead Like a Teacher: How to Elevate Expertise in Your School, and Writing Their Future Selves: Instructional Strategies to Affirm Student Identity.
