Mitali Banerjee Ruths

Mitali Banerjee Ruths is an American-Canadian children’s author and pediatrician, born in New York and raised in Houston, Texas, to parents who immigrated from West Bengal, India. She attended Baylor College of Medicine and completed her pediatric internship in Houston before moving to Montreal, Canada, in 2010, where she lives with her husband, three children, and their dog Tux and continues to practice pediatric medicine.

Ruths is the author of the early chapter book series The Party Diaries from Scholastic Branches, whose first title is Awesome Orange Birthday: A Branches Book (The Party Diaries #1); the series has been recognized as one of the Best Books of 2023 by both the New York Public Library and the Chicago Public Library. She also writes the Scholastic Acorn early reader series The Inside Scouts, which introduces beginning readers to the human body through animal characters, and has published picture books including Archie Celebrates Diwali and Archie Celebrates an Indian Wedding.
