Mona Iehl is a math coach, former classroom teacher, and the creator of Word Problem Workshop, a daily problem-solving routine for elementary math instruction. She founded Mona Math in 2023 to support schools in creating student-centered math classrooms, and she describes herself as having over 15 years of teaching and coaching experience in Chicago.
Iehl has written about helping students make sense of word problems through a five-step structure—Launch, Grapple, Share, Discuss, Reflect—and her book is titled Word Problem Workshop: 5 Steps to Creating a Classroom of Problem Solvers. Public profiles also identify her as an elementary math specialist and National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT), and note that she lives in the Greater Chicago area.
