Myron Dueck
Myron Dueck is a Canadian educator, administrator, and author known for his work on grading, assessment, and student voice. He has worked as both a teacher and administrator for more than two decades in Canada and New Zealand, teaching students in grades 4–12 and serving in district roles focused on communicating student learning and assessment innovation. Based in Summerland, British Columbia, he serves as a district vice-principal in School District 67 (Okanagan-Skaha), where he supports assessment practices and reporting of student learning.
Dueck is the author of the ASCD bestselling book Grading Smarter, Not Harder: Assessment Strategies That Motivate Kids and Help Them Learn (2014) and Giving Students a Say: Smarter Assessment Practices to Empower and Engage (2021). His work, including journal articles, keynotes, and workshops, emphasizes assessment systems that give students greater opportunities to demonstrate understanding, respond to feedback, and play an active role in reporting their learning.
