Nancy C. Anderson

Nancy C. Anderson (also credited as Nancy Canavan Anderson) is a mathematics educator, classroom teacher, curriculum specialist, author, and professional developer based in the Greater Boston area. She completed her undergraduate degree at Boston University, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and went on to earn both a Master of Education and a Doctor of Education from Boston University. Anderson is a frequent speaker at regional and national mathematics education conferences and has contributed widely to professional learning in math teaching.

Her publications focus on improving classroom discourse, questioning, and the productive use of students’ mathematical thinking and errors. Anderson is coauthor of Good Questions for Math Teaching, Grades 5–8: Why Ask Them and What to Ask (also listed as Good Questions for Math Teaching, 5–8: Why Ask Them and What to Ask) with Lainie Schuster, and Good Questions for Math Teaching, High School: Why Ask Them and What to Ask with Gregg Reilly and Leslie Dietiker.
