Nathalie Lauriault

Nathalie Lauriault is an elementary teacher in Ontario, Canada, with about 30 years of classroom experience, specializing in teaching young children in predominantly bilingual settings. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University, and has earned certification in concept-based curriculum and instruction from H. Lynn Erickson. Lauriault was awarded a grant from the Ontario Ministry of Education to conduct classroom-based research on concept-based curriculum and instruction.

She is co-author of Tools for Teaching Conceptual Understanding, Elementary: Harnessing Natural Curiosity for Learning That Transfers, part of the Corwin Teaching Essentials series, and has contributed to its French and Spanish editions (including Outils pédagogiques pour l’apprentissage conceptuel and Herramientas para la enseñanza), written with Julie Stern and Krista Ferraro. Her work focuses on helping educators design lessons that nurture young learners’ curiosity while supporting deep, conceptual understanding and learning that transfers across contexts.
