Nicole Mirra
Nicole Mirra is an associate professor of urban teacher education in the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University. Her research focuses on the intersections of critical literacy and civic engagement across classroom, community, and digital learning environments, and she previously taught high school English in Brooklyn, New York, and Los Angeles, California.
She is the author of _Educating for Empathy: Literacy Learning and Civic Engagement_ (Teachers College Press, 2018) and, with Antero Garcia and Ernest Morrell, the co-author of _Doing Youth Participatory Action Research: Transforming Inquiry with Researchers, Educators, and Students_ (Routledge, 2015). Rutgers and related professional profiles also note her Ph.D. in Education/Urban Schooling from UCLA, along with earlier degrees from Harvard University, Pace University, and New York University.
