Norene A Bunt

Norene A. Bunt is an educator, literacy expert, and author of Solving the Literacy Puzzle: Practical Strategies for Integrating the Science of Reading Into Classroom Instruction, a comprehensive guide to implementing evidence-based reading instruction that was published in 2024. She serves as a Solution Tree literacy associate author and continues to work directly with teachers and school leaders on effective literacy practices grounded in the science of reading.

Dr. Bunt has more than 15 years of classroom teaching experience and 17 years in school and district leadership roles, including positions as teacher, principal, curriculum coordinator, school improvement strategist, and superintendent. Her expertise in literacy instruction is informed by extensive action research, classroom observations, and reviews of current research, and she regularly supports graduate students’ work as a research advisor on education and educational leadership projects. She holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Northwestern College and a doctorate in educational administration with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Dakota, and continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member and student teaching supervisor.
