Norman Atkins
Norman Atkins is an education leader and social entrepreneur best known as co‑founder and president of Relay Graduate School of Education (formerly Teacher U), a graduate institution focused on training and developing public school teachers, initially in New York and New Jersey. He is also recognized within K–12 education circles for his work advancing instructional practice and educational equity, including contributing the foreword to Great Habits, Great Readers: A Practical Guide for K–4 Reading in the Light of Common Core, a comprehensive guide to early literacy instruction aligned with the Common Core standards.
In addition to his role with Relay Graduate School of Education, Atkins has been associated with efforts to improve teaching quality and outcomes for students in high‑need schools, and his writing and forewords frequently emphasize rigorous instruction and the “fight for educational equity.”
