P. Ann Byrd
P. Ann Byrd is the executive director and lead strategist of SC TEACHER, a research and resources initiative based in the University of South Carolina’s College of Education. Her work focuses on partnering with researchers, district leaders, and education decision-makers to generate insights that guide policy, improve practice, and strengthen the educator workforce pipeline. She earned her doctorate from the University of South Carolina in 2007.
Previously, Byrd served for 17 years on the leadership team of Mira Education (formerly the Center for Teaching Quality), where she was chief operating officer and partner, and she spent 13 years as a high school teacher. She is a coauthor of Small Shifts, Meaningful Improvement: Collective Leadership Strategies for Schools and Districts (ASCD, 2023).
