Pan Cooke
Pan Cooke is an Irish writer, artist, and cartoonist from Dublin whose work focuses on social justice and mental health. He is best known for his widely shared social justice comics, which address issues such as police violence and mental health awareness, and he has created comics in collaboration with Amnesty International and the activist group Campaign Zero.
Cooke’s debut middle-grade graphic memoir, Puzzled: A Memoir about Growing Up with OCD, was published in April 2024 and is both written and illustrated by him. In the book, he recounts his experience of growing up with undiagnosed obsessive-compulsive disorder beginning around age ten, using the metaphor of “the Puzzle” to describe his intrusive thoughts and compulsive rituals. He shares his art and advocacy online, where he has built a large following for his politically engaged and mental-health-focused comics.
