Patrice E. Fenton

Dr. Patrice E. Fenton is an educator, author, and co-founder and Head of Organizational Well‑being at the Ella Baker Institute, a community‑responsive organization focused on teaching, learning, youth leadership, and community well‑being. She is a former New York City Department of Education special educator and has held roles including Director of Leader Support and Development at EdLoC (Education Leaders of Color), Associate Director of NYC Men Teach at the City University of New York, and adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Special Education at Hunter College. Dr. Fenton holds four degrees, including a PhD in teaching and learning with a concentration in special education and a bachelor’s in business administration.

An equity‑centered strategist and researcher, Fenton’s work centers on leadership development, teacher education, and collective wellness, particularly in Black and Brown communities. She is co‑author of The Promise of Collective Leadership: Increasing Educator Retention and Enhancing Student Learning (A Framework to Reflect, Elevate, and Value Leadership) and is also co‑author of the article “The Power of Parent Engagement: Sociocultural Considerations in the Quest for Equity” in Theory Into Practice (2017).
