Patricia Babtie
Patricia Babtie is a special educational needs (SEN) teacher, lecturer and author who specialises in dyscalculia and numeracy difficulties. She has taught children and adults with maths learning difficulties since 1998, including work at Emerson House, a specialist centre in London, and in state and independent schools. Her professional focus includes devising classroom-friendly SEN interventions and developing ways to engage parents in supporting numeracy learning.
Babtie has authored and co-authored several widely used resources on dyscalculia and low numeracy, including The Dyscalculia Assessment (with Jane Emerson), a teacher assessment tool for identifying maths difficulties, and The Dyscalculia Solution. She is also co-author of Understanding Dyscalculia and Numeracy Difficulties: A Guide for Parents, Teachers and Other Professionals, and author or co-author of 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Numeracy Difficulties and Dyscalculia and 100 Ideas for Secondary Teachers: Supporting Students with Numeracy Difficulties. Babtie has presented at conferences and provided CPD training on dyscalculia in the UK and internationally.
