Patricia Wynne

Patricia J. Wynne is a New York–based artist, printmaker, and freelance scientific illustrator known for her extensive work in science and nature illustration for both children and adults. She has illustrated well over 200 books—some sources note nearly 300—for trade and educational publishers, and her artwork has appeared in major publications including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Cricket, and Scientific American. Wynne earned a graduate degree in printmaking from the University of Iowa, where she also attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

In the classroom market, Wynne is co‑author of The Body Book: Easy‑To‑Make Hands‑On Models That Teach, which provides reproducible projects and manipulatives to help students in grades 3–6 understand the human body’s systems. She has also illustrated numerous science titles for children, including Dover’s “My First Book” series on topics such as outer space, the body, weather, the brain, physics, chemistry, and genetics, for which she is described as an “accomplished science and nature illustrator” and recipient of a 2008 Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor.
