Patty McGee

Patty McGee is an educator, author, and consultant. She has worked near and far—in her own home town of Harrington Park and across the world in Abu Dhabi and many places in between. Her latest book is Writer’s Workshop Made Simple: 7 Essentials for Every Classroom and Every Writer (Benchmark Education 2021). Patty’s first book, Feedback that Moves Writers Forward: How to Escape Correcting Mode to Transform Student Writing (Corwin 2017), is a favorite of many teachers of writing.

Patty has also created an antidote for tired, boring, grammar instruction called Grammar Study Micro Workshop (Benchmark Education). These materials are for all writers K-5 who want to use grammar to empower their writing (and teachers who want to help students do so).

Patty’s passion and vision is to create learning environments where teachers and students discover their true potential and power through joyful inquiry, study, and collaboration. Her favorite moments are when groups of teachers are working with students together in the classroom. It is truly where the magic happens.
