Peggy Jordan

Peggy Jordan is a professor of psychology at Oklahoma City Community College, where she serves as a faculty advisor to approximately 250 students and has been involved in campus initiatives such as cooperative learning training and a trial study on the use of motivational interviewing in the classroom. She previously worked as a psychotherapist in agency and private practice settings. Jordan holds a PhD in counseling psychology from Oklahoma State University and a MEd and BA from the University of Central Oklahoma.

An active leader in the field of academic advising, Jordan is past chair of NACADA’s Publications Advisory Board and Two-Year Colleges Commission and has contributed to numerous NACADA publications and conferences. She is co-editor and co-author of Academic Advising Approaches: Strategies That Teach Students to Make the Most of College (Jossey-Bass, 2013), and has written on topics including theoretical foundations of academic advising, effective communication skills in advising, and theory as the foundation of advising in NACADA’s core texts and companion resources.
