Pernille Ripp
Pernille Ripp is a Danish-born educator, author, and speaker known for her work on student-centered learning and global literacy initiatives. She has taught 4th, 5th, and 7th grade in the American public school system and has also served as a literacy coach for adults. After teaching in the United States from 2008 to 2022, she returned to Denmark, where she now works as a primary teacher in the Danish public school system while continuing to collaborate with educators worldwide. Ripp is the founder of The Global Read Aloud, a global literacy initiative launched in 2010 that uses shared texts to connect classrooms; the project has involved hundreds of thousands to more than a million students across dozens of countries.
Ripp is the author of several professional books for educators, including Passionate Learners: How to Engage and Empower Your Students and Empowered Schools, Empowered Students: Creating Connected and Invested Learners, which focus on creating learning environments where students are engaged, empowered, and connected. Her later work also includes books such as Passionate Readers and Reimagining Literacy Through Global Collaboration, extending her focus on reading, literacy, and global connections in the classroom. She has been recognized as a Skype Master Teacher and Microsoft Innovative Educator
