Peter Brown

Peter Brown is an American author and illustrator of children’s books, known for his bestselling and award-winning work in both picture books and middle-grade fiction. Born on February 24, 1979, he grew up in Hopewell, New Jersey, later earning a B.F.A. in Illustration from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and initially working on animated television shows before focusing on books. He has received major honors including a Caldecott Honor for illustrating Creepy Carrots!, E.B. White Read Aloud Awards, a Children’s Choice Award for Illustrator of the Year, and a *New York Times Best Illustrated Children’s Book Award.

Brown is the creator of the Wild Robot series, which begins with The Wild Robot (2016) and continues in sequels including The Wild Robot Escapes (2018) and The Wild Robot Protects (2023), widely praised and popular with young readers. His other notable books include The Curious Garden, Children Make Terrible Pets, Mr. Tiger Goes Wild, and My Teacher Is a Monster! (No, I Am Not.), several of which have been New York Times bestsellers. He has lived and worked in New York City and now resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania*.
