Philip Seyfried
Philip Seyfried is an educator, literacy specialist, and doctoral student in curriculum and teaching at Teachers College, Columbia University, where his research focuses on the intersection of digital literacy and artificial intelligence in education. He has more than a decade of experience as a middle school language arts and literature teacher and now works as a literacy and digital literacy consultant, supporting schools and edtech organizations in integrating technology into reading and writing instruction.
Seyfried is the co-author of AI-Enhanced Literacy: Practical Steps for Deepening Reading and Writing Instruction (ASCD, 2025), written with Mary Ehrenworth, which guides K–12 teachers in thoughtfully integrating AI tools into literacy teaching and learning. In addition to his consulting work, he serves as a staff developer and AI and edtech specialist with The Reading and Writing Project at Mossflower, helping educators design classroom practices that leverage AI while maintaining a strong focus on human-centered literacy learning.
