Randy W. Kamphaus

Randy W. Kamphaus, PhD, is an American psychologist and leading expert in psychological and educational assessment, particularly in the areas of child and adolescent behavioral and emotional functioning. He is Professor Emeritus in the College of Education at the University of Oregon, where he has served as Dean of the College of Education and Acting Executive Director of the Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health, and he is also Professor Emeritus at Georgia State University, where he previously held a full professorship in psychology. Kamphaus earned his PhD in Educational Psychology (school psychology) from the University of Georgia in 1983, after completing an MA in General Psychology at the University of Illinois at Springfield and a BA in Psychology with a minor in Education at Quincy University.

Kamphaus is widely known as co-developer, with Cecil R. Reynolds, of the Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC), a widely used multi-dimensional system for assessing children’s behavior and emotions in school and clinical settings, and he has also contributed to other assessment instruments such as the Reynolds Intellectual Assessment Scales, Second Edition (RIAS-2), the Reynolds Interference Task, and the Mathematics Fluency and Calculation Tests.
