Rebecca Brent
Rebecca Brent, EdD, is president of Education Designs, Inc., an educational consulting firm based in North Carolina that focuses on faculty development in STEM fields, precollege teacher preparation, and evaluation of educational programs at both precollege and college levels. She has more than three decades of experience in education and has authored or coauthored numerous papers on effective teaching, staff and faculty development, teacher preparation, and educational program evaluation.
Brent earned a B.A. in Music Education from Millsaps College, an M.Ed. in Education from Mississippi State University, and an Ed.D. in Education from Auburn University. Before establishing her consulting practice in 1996, she was an associate professor of education at East Carolina University, where she received an outstanding teacher award. She co-directed the NSF-sponsored SUCCEED Coalition faculty development program and the National Effective Teaching Institute of the American Society for Engineering Education, and in 2014 she was named a Fellow of the American Society for Engineering Education. Brent is coauthor, with Richard M. Felder, of Teaching and Learning STEM: A Practical Guide.
