Rebecca Stobaugh

Rebecca Stobaugh, PhD, is an assistant professor at Western Kentucky University, where she teaches assessment and unit-planning courses in the teacher education program and supervises first-year teachers. A former middle and high school teacher and middle school principal, she consults with school districts on critical thinking, instructional strategies, assessment, technology integration, and related topics. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown College, a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky, and a PhD in K–12 education leadership from the University of Louisville.

Stobaugh is the author of several books on critical thinking and classroom practice, including Fifty Strategies to Boost Cognitive Engagement: Creating a Thinking Culture in the Classroom, Assessing Critical Thinking in Middle and High Schools, Assessing Critical Thinking in Elementary Schools, and 30+ Movement Strategies to Boost Cognitive Engagement: Activating Minds and Bodies to Maximize Student Learning. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, presented at more than forty national and international conferences, serves as a reviewer for national journals, and is executive director and former president of Kentucky ASCD.
