Rebekah O'Dell

Rebekah O’Dell is a high school English teacher, curriculum designer, and author focused on helping secondary students become confident, authentic writers. She is the coauthor, with Allison Marchetti, of Writing with Mentors: How to Reach Every Writer in the Room Using Current, Engaging Mentor Texts and Beyond Literary Analysis: Teaching Students to Write with Passion and Authority About Any Text, both published by Heinemann and widely used in middle and high school writing classrooms.

O’Dell also writes about mentor texts and practical writing instruction for grades 6–12, including A Teacher’s Guide to Mentor Texts, 6–12: The Classroom Essentials Series and Mini Moves for Every Writer: Fifty Transferable Techniques for Writing Across the Content Areas. She is a co‑founder of Moving Writers, an online community and resource hub dedicated to supporting teachers of writing with classroom‑tested strategies and contemporary mentor texts.
