ReLeah Cossett Lent
ReLeah Cossett Lent is an international educational consultant and author known for her work on adolescent literacy, disciplinary literacy, and school leadership. She began her career as a middle and high school English, social studies, debate, and journalism teacher and taught for more than 20 years before becoming a founding member of a statewide literacy project at the University of Central Florida, where she coordinated literacy leadership teams and contributed to developing Florida’s Reading Endorsement courses. She holds an M.S. in English Education from Florida State University.
Lent has authored or coauthored multiple professional books, including Disciplinary Literacy in Action: How to Create and Sustain a School-Wide Culture of Deep Reading, Writing, and Thinking, This Is Disciplinary Literacy: Reading, Writing, Thinking, and Doing… Content Area by Content Area, and Overcoming Textbook Fatigue: 21st Century Tools to Revitalize Teaching and Learning, as well as earlier works such as Literacy Learning Communities, Keep Them Reading, Literacy for Real, and Adolescents on the Edge. She has chaired the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Standing Committee Against Censorship and has received major recognitions for intellectual freedom, including the **American Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom
