Remi Blackwood

Remi Blackwood is the collective pen name for the creator Jasmine Richards and a team of young and emerging writers, including Chiemeka Nicely and Isaac Hamilton‑Mckenzie. Under the Remi Blackwood name, this team focuses on middle‑grade fantasy adventures that draw on mythologies from the African diaspora and centre Black children as heroes.

Writing as Remi Blackwood, they are the authors of the Future Hero series, which includes Race to Fire Mountain, Mission to Shadow Sea (Future Hero #2), Escape from the Clay City, and Battle for Sky Kingdom. The series, published for readers around ages 8–12, follows Jarell, a boy from South London who discovers he is destined to save the magical world of Ulfrika.
