Renee Dinnerstein

Renée Dinnerstein is an early childhood educator and consultant with more than 50 years of experience in the field. She taught in both Italy and the United States, spent 18 years as an early childhood teacher at P.S. 321 in Brooklyn, and later served as a staff developer for the New York City Department of Education, where she helped write the city’s pre-kindergarten standards.

She earned a B.A. in sociology and an M.A. in early childhood education from Brooklyn College, and she received the Bank Street Early Childhood Educator of the Year Award in 1999. Dinnerstein is the author of Choice Time: How to Deepen Learning Through Inquiry and Play, PreK–2, published by Heinemann in 2016, and she has also written extensively on inquiry-based play and early childhood practice through her blog, Investigating Choice Time: Inquiry, Exploration, and Play.
