Renee W. Houser
Renée W. Houser is a lifelong educator, literacy consultant, and co-author of the What Do I Teach Readers Tomorrow? series, including the fiction and nonfiction Grades 3–8 moment-to-moment decision-making guides published by Corwin Literacy. She has taught in New York City public schools, worked as a staff developer at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, and has served as an adjunct professor at Teachers College, Columbia University. Houser holds graduate degrees from Old Dominion University and Fordham University.
Houser is the founder of Read.Write.Think. with Renee, an education consulting practice through which she partners with schools to support literacy teaching and learning. She previously co-founded Growing Educators, a literacy consulting company based in Los Angeles, and is a frequent presenter at conferences and professional learning events focused on reading instruction. In addition to the What Do I Teach Readers Tomorrow? books, she is co-author of the Teacher’s Toolkit for Independent Reading (Grades 3–5), a set of resources designed to support teachers’ conferring and decision-making with student readers.
