Rhonda Gowler Greene

Rhonda Gowler Greene is the author of over thirty children’s books, including the popular picture book When a Line Bends . . . a Shape Begins. A former elementary learning disabilities teacher, she holds a B.A. in education from Northern Kentucky University and a master’s degree in educational media from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Her work has received honors such as School Library Journal Best Book, Bank Street College Best Book, Children’s Book Council Showcase Book, and ILA/IRA Children’s Choice distinctions, along with starred reviews in major review journals.

Greene began writing for children after leaving classroom teaching to stay home with her four children, selling her first book, Barnyard Song, to Simon & Schuster after several years of submissions. She has since published numerous picture books with major trade houses and is known for titles such as When a Line Bends . . . a Shape Begins, Santa’s Stuck, Push! Dig! Scoop!: A Construction Counting Rhyme, and The First Men Who Went to the Moon. She lives in southeast Michigan (Orchard Lake/West Bloomfield area) with her family.
