Richard Hastings
Richard P. Hastings is a Professor of Psychology and Education in the Centre for Educational Development, Appraisal and Research at the University of Warwick, UK, and serves as a Monash Warwick Professor in the Centre for Developmental Psychiatry and Psychology at Monash University, Australia. He is an internationally recognized researcher focusing on children and adults with developmental disabilities—particularly intellectual disability and autism—and their families, and is noted as one of the most highly cited researchers in special education internationally.
Hastings’ work includes research on mental health and well-being in schools and the development and evaluation of academic interventions for children with special educational needs in both mainstream and special education settings. He is co-author of Teaching Early Numeracy to Children with Developmental Disabilities (Math Recovery), a practical guide that adapts core Mathematics Recovery principles to support numeracy learning for children with developmental disabilities.
