Richard S. Martinez

Richard S. Martinez, Ed.D., is an educator, diversity and equity consultant, and coauthor of Culturally Proficient Coaching: Supporting Educators to Create Equitable Schools, including its second edition published in 2019 with Delores B. Lindsey, Randall B. Lindsey, and Keith T. Myatt. He is also a coauthor of Culturally Proficient Education: An Asset-Based Response to the Conditions of Poverty (Corwin, 2010).

Martinez is the founder of Artful Alliance and has extensive experience in education, including classroom teaching; school, district, and county office administration; professional development design and facilitation; and university teaching in educational leadership. He has served as an executive director of a center for diversity and equity, integrating culturally proficient coaching into higher education professional development for staff and faculty, and has facilitated nationally on leadership, culturally proficient environments, and transformative approaches to systems change.
