Ricky Robertson

Ricky Robertson is an educator, author, and consultant who works with schools, districts, and education agencies across the United States to develop culturally responsive, trauma-informed systems of support that foster resilience and success for students, staff, and families. He has experience in both alternative and traditional preK–12 settings in urban, suburban, and semi-rural communities, and his professional background includes restorative justice/practices, culturally responsive teaching, LGBTQ+ student advocacy, and trauma-informed practices for teaching and behavior management. Robertson frequently provides coaching, consultation, and multi-day professional development focused on supporting students impacted by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma.

Robertson is the co-author of Building Resilience in Students Impacted by Adverse Childhood Experiences: A Whole-Staff Approach (Corwin, 2018), written with Victoria E. Romero and Amber Warner. In this work, the authors present a trauma-informed, whole-staff framework for K–12 educators, offering classroom strategies, multi-tiered systems of support, and guidance on educator self-care to better serve students affected by ACEs. Their framework has been cited as an example of best practices in the Office of the California Surgeon General’s Roadmap for Resilience for supporting children impacted by ACE
