Robert Kim
Robert Kim is an education civil rights attorney and policy expert who serves as executive director of the Education Law Center in Newark, New Jersey. He previously worked for more than two decades in civil and education rights law and policy, including roles as staff counsel at the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California, senior policy analyst at the National Education Association, and Deputy Assistant Secretary/Senior Counsel in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights during the Obama administration.
Kim is the author of Elevating Equity and Justice: Ten U.S. Supreme Court Cases Every Teacher Should Know (Heinemann), which examines landmark Supreme Court decisions affecting K–12 public schools and educators. He is also co-author of Education and the Law (West Academic) and Legal Issues in Education: Rights and Responsibilities in U.S. Public Schools Today, and writes regularly on education law and policy for Phi Delta Kappan.
